GO OUT OF THE WOODS TO SEE THE TREE

I saw it and I wanted to share this mood with you...
Mood Wood is a project that has the intention to express the Tree and to expose it in the present day minimalist interior, rising up its meaningful accent.
The Tree as a plant is fundamental for our planet’s life. As a material it is the main tool for the evolution of the civilization. Because of that it has become an aesthetic cult whose importance is getting even higher with the high tech development.
The Tree affects our senses creating special mood for being close to nature.

There are three prototypes presented:

1. The Woody O - two cylinders: one made of oak and one - of ash;

2. The Woody Z  - stump made of ash;

3. The Woody M - three leg stump made of ash.

Each of them - with dimensions 30x33cm in M:1:10 and options for two more variants with dimensions: 35x38cm and 40x43cm. The articles are produced from whole logs with minimum interference in their speciation.
Prototypes, trials and technological operations are made by the designer in his own small experimental workshop.
Technological operations:
1. Rounding the troupe (stalk);
2. Cuts :
- two transversal for calibration of the gauge (to determine the height);
- three longitudinal (one of which along the core of the log) in order to discharge the internal tensions. Along them, the assembling of the whole is accomplished later on; - some auxiliary for lightening the weight (especially for the cylinder) and figuration of the products;
3. Drying of the details reaching up to 10 % of humidity;
4. Flattening of the deformations, that have appeared during the drying process on the surfaces responsible for the final assembling;
5. Grinding of all surfaces of the details, especially the ones that remain unreachable after the assembling.
6. Assembling by gluing;
7. Fine grinding and surface treatment without altering the natural color of the wood.

 This technology has been checked by the designer in his small experimental workshop making different trials and prototypes within the last few years.
